What is this place all about?

Extreme Noise Records is a punk record co-operative serving the punk scene of Minneapolis and the Upper Midwest. Founded in 1994, Extreme Noise's staff is all-volunteer. All proceeds are re-invested into the store and other punk music projects.

Extreme Noise began as an idea in the winter of 1993-94. A group of local scenesters were fed up with the lack of a punk record store in this punkest of punk towns. Local independent record stores carried some punk but not enough. Several local labels and distributors had been selling records at gigs, by mail, at record conventions and a few punk record swaps had been organized. Although each element of the scene would have been unable to support a store of its own, by joining together it was felt a store could serve the whole punk scene in the spirit of unity.

Extreme Noise staff have taken their enthusiasms for music to the airwaves on two local radio stations, Radio K and KFAI. Out of Step is on the air Sunday nights (4PM) on 770 Radio K and Radio Riot on KFAI 90.3 FM comes on at Midnight in the last moments of Monday until 2 AM Tuesday.
